In a landmark move for ocean justice and human rights, the UN Human Rights Council has formally addressed Japan over Pacific concerns about the release of nuclear-contaminated wastewater from the Fukushima Daiichi plant. The communication follows an August 2023 complaint by Ocean Vision Legal on behalf of PANG and over 50 civil society groups, warning of long-term environmental, health, and human rights risks.
