Der Bund für Umwelt- und Naturschutz Deutschland e.V. (BUND) hat die nationale und europäische Rechtsgrundlage zur Grundschleppnetzfischerei am Beispiel des Meeresschutzgebiets „Doggerbank“ prüfen lassen. Das Rechtsgutachten kommt zu dem eindeutigen Ergebnis, dass die Fangerlaubnis mit Grundschleppnetzen im Schutzgebiet gegen geltendes Recht verstößt
